The Cambodia Constructors Association (CCA) met with the delegates of SME Malaysia during their trade mission to Cambodia, to discuss the establishment of construction materials supply chains in Cambodia and the business cooperation opportunities in the field of construction sectors.

The SME delegation led by the National Vice President of the SME Malaysia Association, Dato’ Sri Dr Ricky Yaw, and the President of the Malaysian Business Chamber of Cambodia (MBCC), Oknha Tan Khee Meng, and had paid a courtesy call to the Cambodia Constructors Association on 29th April. Neak Oknha Pung Kheav Se, the President of Cambodia Constructors Association, led a number of CCA’s board members to meet with the delegates of SME Malaysia in person.

The delegates of the SME Malaysia came from sectors of construction materials and equipment production field, which included construction safety equipment, fire protection equipment, solar panel accessories, paint, LED and construction material logistics services.

He mentioned that Cambodia’s economy has developed rapidly in recent years, especially the construction industry which is led by infrastructure and real estate, hence it has become the main economic driver in today’s world.

Neak Oknha Pung Kheav Se, who is also the chairman of Canadia Bank and Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), hopes that SME Malaysia to consider investing in Cambodia after visiting local chambers of commerce and enterprises during this trade mission so that there is an opportunity to set up a production base and establish a construction material supply chain in Cambodia.

President of the Malaysian Business Chamber of Cambodia, Oknha Tan Khee Meng, said that the SME Trade Mission to Cambodia is the first large-scale foreign trade delegation to visit Cambodia after the country fully reopened its borders.

He pointed out that the SME Malaysia Association plans to organise a series of trade missions and conduct field visits to various Southeast Asia countries, and Cambodia is the first stop of their trade mission.

“With the rapid development of Cambodia’s construction industry in recent years, the demand for talents in the field of construction has also increased, especially experienced professional staff in construction quality supervision, standards and inspection,” Oknha Tan mentioned during the meeting.

He also introduced the potential cooperation between Cambodian and Malaysian companies in the manufacturing of construction materials industry, such as construction safety equipment (safety clothes and helmets), fire prevention equipment and solar energy components etc.

During the meeting, both parties discussed various possible cooperation projects and business opportunities and agreed to continue to further discuss and cooperate closely in the future.

The trade mission organised by SME Malaysia was composed of 52 Malaysian representatives from various sectors. The Malaysian Business Chamber of Cambodia (MBCC) is the co-organiser of this event, and this event is supported by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and the Cambodian Embassy in Malaysia.
