Khmer Times - MBCC Charity Gala Dinner a sellout

Ticket sales for the August 1, Malaysian Business Chamber, Cambodia (MBCC) dinner have received an overwhelming response and are now closed.

MBCC President, Oknha Tan Khee Meng, in revealing this, said that MBCC had to twice increase the number of tables, first from 30 to 40 and then to 50 when requests for table sales and individual tickets kept rolling in.

“We had to stop ticket sales as we need to ensure sufficient social distancing measures as well as SOPs which has to be put into place in view of the attendance of VVIPs. In view of this, and as required by the VVIP’s protocol office, all participants at the August 1 event must undergo self-administered Rapid Tests for Covid-19 on the morning of the event and bring a photo of the test result with their name and date clearly written and legible.”

“Those who do not produce these may not be allowed entry or may be subjected to on-the-spot rapid tests to be undertaken by two doctors who will be deployed by MBCC for testing VVIPs as per SOPs. On-the-spot testing for others depends on the numbers as we do not want congestion at the testing centres and that is why, we have to undertake these tests on a case-by-case basis for participants,” Tan said.

He added that response for calls for sponsors, both gold and silver sponsors, have also been overwhelming and these too had to be closed as of Friday, July 22.

“Here again, the numbers had to be increased to accommodate as many Malaysian entities as possible,” he added.

Malaysian Ambassador Eldeen Husaini, when approached at the sidelines of the Khmer Times sponsored event to handover Veal village in Kampong Speu province to the province and villagers as landmine free on Saturday, July 23, said: “I am proud of the MBCC and its relentless efforts to raise the profile of Malaysian businesses in Cambodia, especially in the fields of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

“Malaysian entities are actively and more importantly, responsibly giving back to the society, in this case, Cambodians, with their CSR and ESG initiatives. These are exemplary of our Malaysian community who never hesitate to step forward to help others in times of need and in other situations.”

“I am elated beyond words to see the Malaysian flag inserted in the signage at Veal village on Saturday, July 23, courtesy of Khmer Times. This, I hope will be the first of many more Malaysian flags being displayed proudly alongside the Cambodian flag across the country or wherever possible as it shows Malaysia and Malaysians care,” said Ambassador Eldeen.

The MBCC Charity Gala Dinner to be held on August 1 is being organised by MBCC in collaboration with the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), under the leadership of First Vice-President, Senior Minister Ly Thuch.

The event has attracted more than 20 corporate sponsors and close to 500 conformed attendees at the dinner and cheque presentation event to be held at NagaWorld’s grand ballroom.
