Synopsis: MBCC ushers in a new era of leadership and collaboration with the election of its 2025–2027 executive board at its Annual General Meeting in Phnom Penh.

The Malaysian Business Chamber in Cambodia (MBCC) convened its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Dinner on Tuesday at the Sunway Hotel Phnom Penh, drawing together members of the Malaysian business community and special guests for an evening of strategic decisions and networking.

The meeting session, restricted to MBCC members, began at 4:30pm with registration and networking, followed by opening remarks from the MBCC President, Okhna Tan Khee Meng.

Representing the Embassy of Malaysia in Cambodia, Nur Herzazzila Ghazali, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission, delivered a message on behalf of the Ambassador, reinforcing the embassy’s support for Malaysian enterprises operating in Cambodia.

During the hour-long AGM session, members reviewed and approved the Annual Report for 2024/2025 and passed the minutes from the previous year’s meeting. The Management Account Report for 2024 was also presented and adopted, followed by the appointment of an auditor for the 2025/2026 term.

A highlight of the meeting was the official appointment of the new executive board for the 2025–2027 term and a new logo for the business association, ushering in a new chapter of leadership aimed at advancing MBCC’s mission of promoting Malaysian business interests in Cambodia.

In his remarks, Oknha Tan expressed his delight at the achievements of the MBCC in the past years, which included hosting many business meetings, summits, and Malaysian festivals in Cambodia.

“These successful events reflect on our support for Malaysian businesses in Cambodia and our focus on boosting business and economic relations between Cambodia and Malaysia, a pair of close friends and partners in Southeast Asia,” he said.

“I am proud that despite the busy schedule of our members, we have also been able to be involved in charity initiatives such as a charity run and bringing food supplies to the Cambodian army stationed in the border area.”

Nur Herzazzila, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Malaysian Embassy in Cambodia, said MBCC has shown itself to be a great partner of the embassy in promoting the Cambodia-Malaysia bilateral relations.

“I believe the collaboration between MBCC and the embassy is truly symbiotic. We’ve worked closely together on many occasions—from the simplest tasks, such as helping us reach attendance targets for events,” she said.

“Whether it’s celebrating national days together or organising seminars, MBCC has always been a dependable partner. I believe this partnership will only continue to grow stronger in the years to come, and for that, thank you once again.”

Following the formal session, MBCC hosted a buffet dinner, featuring Malaysian cuisine, and a networking event that welcomed both members and guests. The evening offered an opportunity for attendees to connect, exchange ideas, and explore new business collaborations in a relaxed and friendly environment.
